Open Destinations is a technology company exclusively focused on the travel industry. The company was founded in 1998 with the objective of creating leading edge solutions and services for the leisure travel industry.
They are headquartered in London, with a project office in Miami, Florida and a support and development centre in Goa, India with over 100 people focusing on new product development, product support and system training
Open Destinations has a global reach with over 80 customers in 27 countries around the world, including some of the best known names in travel. Over 2,500 people log onto their systems every day. There are 175 employees.
Travel Studio
Travel Studio is Open Destinations’ flagship product. It is an enterprise reservation, inventory and content management system enabling multi channel distribution. It is designed for outbound tour operators, destination management companies, travel service wholesalers and other travel providers with complex and varied requirements.
Travel Studio can manage tailor-made packages, fixed packages, group and FIT bookings. Interfaces exist with many external systems for example: accounts, GDS, low cost flights, MIS and CMS packages. It handles supplier, direct customer and agent records.
The system is designed to automate business processes and transactions using functionality such as task management, auto-messaging and dynamic booking generation using xml connectivity with suppliers. The supplier extranet enables suppliers to self manage existing rates, allocations and content
Fare Studio
Complementing Travel Studio is Fare Studio, a database enabling customers to store, retrieve and book private fares and charter flight allocations, and providing full integration with Travel Studio.
Travel Builder
A recent addition to the product suite is Travel Builder, a browser based reservation management system designed for start-up to medium sized tour operators who require a simple ‘out of a box’ solution that is hosted by Open Destinations.
E-commerce
Open Destinations technology also allows a choice of e-commerce solutions. Companies that have made major investment in existing web sites can integrate into Travel Studio web services APIs. Other companies can benefit from integration completed from Travel Studio and from Travel Builder to an open source content management system (CMS). The integration allows on-line bookings to be made for component travel products or for packages.
Outsourcing
Open Destinations also offer outsourcing services to specifically take responsibility for repetitive and time consuming administrative processes. Staffed by personnel with travel industry knowledge and experience, some of the travel processes already outsourced to Open Destinations include hotel contract loading , web research, purchase approval and supplier reconfirmations.
Typically customers see a reduction in cost of 50% whilst being able to re-focus their own people on more profitable activities.
Support and Training
Software support response is available for 7 days per week 24 hours a day for most days of the year. An on-line support system is provided to all customers, and allows prioritisation, immediate updating, review and analysis of all support logs.
Dependent on product, training and consultancy services are delivered remotely or by ‘on-site’ visit.
